How we delivered

In order to answer to Kurtz Engineering (KE)’s needs, we needed to first create a brand. With Eric’s help, we researched what was industry standard for branding in his field. We quickly realized that not many engineering firms retouched their branding since the 1980′s, or had ever even developed a brand. We also noted that most of the ones we found were text based.

We decided to create a brand that would have a textual element and a visual mark. We used a clean and clear sans-serif typeface with a hint of customization for the text portion of the brand. For the logomark we used an iconic water drop, as Kurtz Engineering specializes in waterworks. The drop includes the initials KE and is included within a support shape, which helps to make the 2 elements of the brand usable independently of each other.

The website was slightly more complex to organize as the content we needed to make available online is rather extensive.
As any contractors might, KE needed to be able to be contacted easily. We made that information a prominent part of the header and footer of the website. The rest of the homepage features a slider showcasing some of KE’s projects, a testimonial area and a short presentation.

The about page offers information about the company and his owner. We decided to use a fade transition between subpages rather than a link to click as it has a smoother feel. We carried that effect across the website for visual consistency.

The services page is, as its name leads to believe, a detailed explanation of what Eric offers to his customers. The project page is a showcase of KE’s work in his various areas of expertise. We wanted to make this page helpful for non-engineers, to help them understand what KE can do without struggling to understand complex terms or diagrams. The page also features Eric’s international experience with non-for-profit firms.

Finally, the contact page includes the physical address of KE, as well as the various other ways to contact Eric: phone, fax, email. The embedded Google Map helps people to find directions to get to KE’s office straight from the website.

Finally, we also helped Eric to apply the new Kurtz Engineering branding to his other communication supports: business cards and various business documents.
