A grand opening and Weapons of Mass Creation

The grand opening

Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the new and (greatly improved) portfolio website for Studio Ace of Spade.

If you are wondering what’s actually new, well, let us show you a screenshot of our former online presence:

As you can tell, it was rather on the minimalistic side of things. Now, to the contrary, you are able to find almost more information than what you need. From our presentation as a team and individuals to the contact page, including some hand picked portfolio pieces, you can see it all.
On the technical side of things, we use the same techniques and platform we use for our clients: the fantastic WordPress, extended via Carrington JAM (for the theme development framework) and a few selected plugins. We also made sure to use some HTML 5 and CSS 3 goodness (along with some neat JS to spice it up) to translate our vision accurately.

Needless to say, we are pretty proud. And we even managed to launch 13 Spade at the same time!

If there are suggestions, love, hate or bug finding, don’t hesitate to use our handy contact form to let us know.

Well, by now, I think we made clear that we were at WMC Fest last weekend. It was our first design conference as invited designers, and we had a blast. Between meeting all these amazing people (Mikey Burton, Aaron Draplin, Dan Cassaro, Dan Christophersson, Ramon, Will, Tyler…), hanging out with the Go Media people (Jeff, Bill, Oliver, Chris, Liz, Heather, Kim…) and the other buddies (OK Pants, Steve Knerem…), I mean… It was an awesome week end. And I didn’t write your name here, it’s not purposefully. It’s just I’m still overwhelmed.

We even had our little moment of glory when we got mentioned by Jeff in his opening speech. I felt all warm and fuzzy inside.

Jon and I would also like to put a good word in for the great folks at Wall Eye Gallery, for being so helpful when the experience of being at our first design show was overwealming at moments. If you ever have a show to put together in Cleveland, do it there. And they even have cold beer, which is a great plus.

We come back from there with a few goodies and lots of advices, encouragements and renewed energy.

There are definitely more news in the pipeline, both concerning the Studio and 13 Spade, but right now, it is time to recuperate and to go back to work.
